I took my first black and white photograph with a Kodak Brownie as a child in the 50s.
Photography has been an interest ever since, though not one to which I devoted a lot of time until recently.
As an academic doctor, I travelled the world and (since digital cameras became available) took a camera wherever I went.
I had two recent turning points: first, a training workshop in street photography; and then an autumn trip to Japan in 2022, guided by two charismatic professional photographers. Another visit to Japan and a trip to Arctic Norway followed soon afterwards. The humanity and humour of people going about their daily business in urban settings enthuse me, as does the gentle friendliness of Japanese people in the glorious urban and rural places where they live.
I use Canon R series cameras and, recently, a Ricoh GRIIIx. Friendly, encouraging and expert South Manchester Camera Club members encourage and guide my continuing learning.
