Richard achieved a Distinction by scoring over 90% in the Advanced Diploma in Photography Online Course
I am (a very young) 66-year-old retired language teacher, having taught in South East London schools for nearly 30 years. Retirement has given me the opportunity to develop my interest in wildlife photography and I have been lucky enough to have been able to travel, with my wife Denise, to many countries around the world in search of exotic birds and animals.
Photography was for me originally just an aid to identifying birds; having something to bring home to check what I thought I had seen. Inevitably the desire to produce better photographs led to buying better equipment and learning more about the craft.
My main kit consists of a Canon 7D and a 40D, a Canon 100-400 mm L series telephoto and a 60 mm macro lens, which I often use with a ring-flash. This equipment allows me to shoot big elephants and tiny insects and anything in between. The IOP course has helped me to develop a wider range of photographic skills, although capturing the world’s insects, birds and animals will always be my primary photographic goal.
