I’ve taken photos for years with the camera on Auto. Enrolling on the IOP Professional Diploma in Photography changed everything it was the best investment I’ve ever made in photography.
Landscape photography was a natural area to focus on initially as I love going out into the countryside. I like being alone wandering around in wild places and using my camera to record where I’ve been. I love moody skies and days with fast-moving clouds where the light races over the landscape and so much the better if there’s a shower around. Woodlands are difficult but why would you do something if it’s easy!
The Course forced me to take photos of people and work with lights, it scared me to death and still does. Models and Make-up artists bring their own skills and ideas to the party. I’m fearful of letting them down. I need that nervous energy to get creative.
I’m surprised when others like my work! I always review it and ask what could have been better. There’s always something that could be improved. For me, “Good” is not good enough and that’s the driver for me to one day create something that’s quite exceptional.
