My interest in photography started almost by accident. As a keen walker and lover of rugged and wild landscapes, I had the opportunity some years ago to visit the Falkland Islands. I travelled not with fellow walkers, but with a group of experienced and talented wildlife photographers. I had no idea about photography at that stage, but with their help and encouragement, I returned from the trip with a strong desire to learn more about it!
After researching various photography courses, I decided the Institute of Photography Professional Diploma in Photography would suit me best. Through its wide-ranging assignments and constructive feedback, the course encouraged me to explore different techniques and genres that I might otherwise not have tried. Importantly, it made me go out with the camera and practise.
The more I practised, the more I learned. And the more I learned, the more rewarding and enjoyable photography became. The Diploma has given me a fantastic foundation to build and develop as a photographer and has encouraged me never to stop learning and always to keep practising.
