My passion for photography started back in 1974 when I purchased a Zenith B SLR and joined Benfleet Camera Club as a young 16-year-old. It was not until I retired as a teacher I had the time to pursue my old hobby again and re-joined the club half a century later. I really enjoyed the club competitions and the critique I received, which helped me realise the finer points of producing a good image. I knew I had a long way to go, so I decided that a Diploma in Photography with IOP would help my progress.
I enjoy Portraiture, Architecture, Travel and Action photography, but in addition, I decided that I needed a project. So, in 2020 I made a short film and produced a series of still images of an Orphanage in India to help them with their fundraising. It was an amazing, highly emotional experience, and I achieved ‘Associate of the Royal Photography Society’ for my work.
Since then, I have become interested in Sports Photography and covering Rugby, Football and Hockey for local teams and London Boxing. I love the feeling of striving for that perfect image and the fact that you never stop learning.
