After experimenting with phone photography, which did not give me the results I desired at the time, I ended up buying a used Sony Alpha A100 (prehistoric by today’s standards) with two classic lenses.
In the meantime, I joined the Malta Photographic Society and entered their annual Competition/Exhibition several times. I always had many acceptances (even some taken by the ancient Sony Alpha A100) and last year (2021) I won the BEST LANDSCAPE special award, of which I am really proud.
It is not easy to get acceptances, let alone win prizes, as the standard is so high and one is competing with several hundreds of entries. Having my photos hung in a beautiful exhibition hall gives me a great feeling of accomplishment.
I now own a Canon 1DX MkII and a Canon R6 but my dream is that one day I can acquire a 45-megapixel camera or more so that I can crop further when I take photos of birds or wildlife.
