“I enjoyed the pace of the course. You can take as much time as you need to complete the practice and compulsory assignments.
Perhaps some exemplars of what written work you should include in supporting your images.
I think that feedback I received was very detailed and easy to understand. It helped me be more critical of my work- why it was a good image and most importantly what I could do to make it better.”

“I really enjoyed the modular structure of the course. The assignments and feedback throughout the course were also very helpful.
Maybe find a way to include some live interaction through ZOOM or some other platform.
The Final Assignments showed me how to approach a project and not be too narrow-minded when composing an image.

“I found the initial responses very subjective. But then photography is! I found the initial “assessor” very distant and did not invite response and I felt I was being treated as a production line. Bit liokle calling a call centre and havinging a script read back to you.
Photography is very subjective. I don’t think it has helped me at all, I have my style which has been built up over a number of years. Some of the comments made have been based on attitudes to post-processing. I’m glad I’ve completed the course, but I can’t say I got a lot out of it. I can’t say at the moment as to the value of the final assessment, having only just got it!”

“Liked the breadth of topics. Although I prefer landscape and astronomical (especially aurora) photography, it was very helpful to broaden my knowledge. I used to be very wary of portrait photgraphy for example and now I feel I am at least competent. Composition and favourable lighting are so important for best results, but these are emphasized already. I guess it might be fun to see the same photograph taken in various ways and for you to select which ones “works” the best and why.
I think I sometimes struggle remembering what is in the viewfinder is what counts and not the wider view the eye sees. I’m getting better at running through a mental checklist of things to consider, but can certainly still improve.
I like the relaxed pace of the course although I should really have completed it more quickly; the pandemic didn’t help here.

“Liked time to complete at own pace knowing the support was there if needed. Feedback throughout !!! Feedback really really helpful, allowing me see things I hadnt seen !! My plan is to review all my course feedback to see if I can improve anything else. Great course, also business course and street photography to complete.

“Liked the feedback from the tutors on ways to improve every aspect of your photography is probably one of the most useful features of the course.
Maybe ask for original photographs as well as the final ones submitted so the tutors can see why certain crops and adjustments etc might have been done. Other than that, the course covers sufficient topics to show you know how to use your camera and understand settings, composition, colour, and everything else.
It has helped me consider how others might view my work, what might be distracting or unnecessary in the shot, how the viewer might engage with elements in the image, and the importance of the lighting whether it’s natural or artificial. It is very helpful to get professional feedback other than non-photographers just saying nice.”
