I started developing my interest in photography once I retired from full-time headship to work part-time. Purchasing a Canon EOS1300D as a starter camera with a couple of lenses, I quickly realised that I needed to learn more about the technical aspects of photography if I was to have any chance of taking a half-decent picture.
After a web search, I chose and enrolled with the Institute of Photography on their Professional Diploma in Photography course which I am currently undertaking. To date, this has been excellent, and I feel I have learned a great deal already. The material is clear and easy to work through. The feedback I get from the tutors is very comprehensive and arrives quickly after a submission is made.
I recently updated to a Canon EOS90D, and I can’t get enough of getting out there and trying to capture interesting shots. With the hobby comes a good deal of frustration as I try to master this art, but learning is like that. I still take too many shots rather than spending longer and trying to capture what I’m after in one or two. At present, I’m tending to favour landscape and architecture, but I like to experiment where I can. Lots more to learn, but what a great way to spend the spare time I have.
I find myself wishing I’d developed my interest in photography long ago, as I can now see what a fantastic way to earn a living it could be. But for now, it just gets more enjoyable as I learn more and occasionally take a half-decent snap!
