We have a strong affiliation with the Fire Brigade Union and encourage all firefighters to speak to their Union representative about joining our special FBU group.
A word from Tim Davis, FBU ULF Lifelong Learning Project Support Organiser
“I work for The Fire Brigades Union Lifelong Learning Team and we are always looking for courses to provide opportunities for our members, their friends and families to improve and develop their skills. This course appeals to many of our members and we now have in excess of 270 signed up. One of the most appealing aspects of its delivery is the flexibility and being able to access the course online which overcomes difficulties caused by the necessary shift patterns. We have also been very impressed with how our members have been supported if they have any learning disabilities thus enabling their participation. We also like how each module has an assessment which helps to reinforce the learning and provides a focus for the candidate. Most of the courses we deliver are workplace based and this course provides our members the opportunity to learn but also have fun whilst learning – I am aware that some are pairing up and going out taking pictures together for their assignments which appeals greatly.
The Institute of Photography have supported us with the promotion and enrolment process to enable our members, and their families, to access the course right across the UK and this has been quite a challenge in some areas and we are still recruiting. We have people on the course from beginners to the more experienced photographers and all of them are enjoying and learning from the course materials, tutor feedback (and tips !) and the forums where we can all learn from eachother.
Part of our goals is to promote community learning and this course certainly enables this aspiration and we have no hesitation in highly recommending this course to others.”
