Capture the world in a whole new light
Our February 2014 competition was to supply a photo which you felt captured the world in a whole new light. This could have been a photo which showed dramatic use of light and dark, or one which had unusual lighting. The brief was open to your creativity, but we were looking for images where you paid particular attention to the lighting in the photo.
- 1st prize: Brendan Diver
We chose this image because Brendan thought creatively about his subject, using a burning rope to create the wall of flame. This is an impressive shot and the photographer has taken control of the image to produce a spectacular portrait. Brendan wins £150 Warehouse Express vouchers and a high quality, large format print of the winning image courtesy of www.bigexposureprint.co.uk
- Runner-up: Carol Clements
We see lots of light painting photos but this is one of the most imaginative and interesting we have seen in a long time. Well done Carol, you win £50 of Warehouse Express vouchers which we are sure you will put to good use!
The closing date is midnight 28 February 2014 and ‘Terms and Conditions’ can be found here:

This competition is open to both students and non-students of the IOP. Your photo may appear in a gallery as part of the competition and you agree to accept this promotion as an extra condition. If your photo does not appear in the gallery, you have not made the short-list. Judges decision is final and only the winners will be notified. We cannot email every entrant regarding the status of their entry for obvious logistical reasons. Thank you.
