IOP® Student Edward Whytock shares some of his photography with us and tells us why he decided to choose IOP for his photography study.

Hi everyone, I’m Edward (most people at work call me Ed). I live in Stockport near Manchester. I passed the Professional Diploma in Photography in May 2018 so a while ago now. I went through the modules fairly quickly, in just 18 months partly because I wanted to keep myself occupied following a change in personal circumstances.
I passed the Professional Diploma in Photography Online Course in May 2018 so a while ago now. I went through the modules fairly quickly, in just 18 months partly because I wanted to keep myself occupied following a change in personal circumstances.
I work full time in my local hospital as a care assistant and have been in care work for the past 15 years.
Certainly, for the past 20 years, I’ve had an interest in photography and have done various courses. I found the IOP® course much more in-depth and a brilliant challenge for me and much more affordable than studying for a degree which is why I chose the Institute.
Even since I finished the course I feel I have developed even further and my photography I do wholeheartedly believe has improved through feedback from people I speak to.
My goal now is to work at reducing the hours I work in the hospital and do more photography commissions.
