Student Name: Lesley Simmons

Course: Advanced Diploma in Photography

Completed: 15 Jan 2018

What did you enjoy most about the course?
Practical assignments. These made me think more about what I was taking and why. In the case of the portrait assignment, it made me try a subject I normally avoid.

What do you think we could improve about the course?
A couple of extra practical assignments – maybe wildlife/natural world or colour/shape or even still life.

Would you recommend the course to a friend?
Yes

How has the assignment feedback improved your photography or if you feel it has not helped you, tell us why!
Just completed so too early to say. I have been thinking of giving up photography due to fading interest/ cost but positive feedback is making me think more about this.

How has the final assignment feedback improved your photography or if you feel it has not helped you, tell us why!
The issue with assessing a photograph is that, providing the technical aspects of the shot are correct in terms of camera use e.g. the shot is in focus etc, an assessment of a photograph can be very subjective. My final assignment shots were taken and processed as I visualised them and whilst I accept that they, like any shot, could have been processed in a different way, the way that I processed them achieved the result that I wanted and have all sold quite successfully as A3+ prints. I do appreciate the feedback that has been given to me throughout the course as it has always been constructive and given points for consideration.

Being able to take my time, and the detail in my tutors feedback.

With the updates that have occurred over the years, I think you are already improving it. 🙂

Would you recommend the course to a friend?

How has the final assignment feedback improved your photography or if you feel it has not helped you, tell us why!
Having read it, the things I need to correct are so obvious now! Having this feedback is a good reminder that I think I’ll remember with my future work, and again I appreciate how detailed and personal his suggestions were. It didn’t feel copy and pasted for example.
