This is a wonderful, moving photograph showing a riot of colour and evoking such emotion in the viewer as we share the subjects’ sense of joy and abandonment. It has an almost posterised feel to it which fits the theme well. The streaks of colour move and dance around the frame making it an interesting and vibrant composition. Talk about hitting the brief bang on the nose! This is a serene and beautiful image by Nicole. The two simple colours are used so cleverly in this composition to not only create pattern and form but to create a feeling of calm through the pellucid water picking up the reflections perfectly. All of the top three were so close to winning and this shot very nearly made the top spot. A simple and beautiful composition that has been judiciously cropped. The colour of the birds creates a satisfying symmetry and form to the image. Well done James!
