Growing up, I spent every summer in ex Yugoslavia (now Croatia) and the winters in the Tatra Mountains (Slovakia) with my parents and friends, so the travel bug bit me early. I began my photography journey in my teenage years with my parent’s old camera, equipped with nothing but the hunger to capture the World. I still remember my parents’ surprise, when I was 17, after developing 5 films, finding only pictures of the cows and sheep I met on a summer trip to Germany.
At university, I studied tourism and my absolute passion is travelling. You can usually find me in one of three phases; booking a flight, taking a trip, or processing the thousands of photos taken on those trips. I love booking new flight tickets on the last day of my trip on my way home, to give me something to look forward to. Southeast Asia holds a special place in my heart, having visited countless times, I fully intend to return again and again.
I have started the Professional Diploma in Photography course last autumn and the more I learn, the more I wish I could go on some of my old trips again to retake my photos. With the knowledge I have gained so far, I will hopefully do so in the coming months. I am constantly chasing colours in life and find the course extremely useful to learn about the different techniques that make a photo stand out and tell a story.
The feedback during the course has been invaluable, thorough and constructive. I tend to print it and read through it again before each new assignment to get a greater benefit.
Despite having taken thousands of photos of family and friends, I believe travel and wildlife photography is my true path. Bringing the world closer to people and capturing special moments brings me joy and motivates me to travel, even more, exploring the world and other cultures.
Currently, I work in banking, but do hope that one day I will see my photos in a magazine and photography will no longer be only a hobby.
