May 2014 competition

The eyes have it!

Our May 2014 competition was to supply a photo which highlighted the eyes of your subject. We were particularly looking for light captured in the eyes or the eyes of your subject depicted in a creative way. The brief was open to your creativity but we asked you to remember that the eyes are the window to the soul.

A £50 Amazon voucher was awarded to the top two shots as decided on by our Course Director, Tim McCann.

The standard was probably the highest we have ever had for an IOP competition and the judging was fierce. There were some excellent shots which didn’t quite fit the brief but would have won another competition. Thanks to everyone who contributed. You can see some commendable entries after the winners on this page.

Winner 1 – Alison Quinn
One of the team at IOP just loved this photo from Alison so much that we had to choose it as a winner. There is something special about this shot that creates a warm feeling and the subject really connects with the viewer. Well done Alison, you win £50 Amazon vouchers.

Winner 2 – Louise Humphries
This beautiful portrait from Louise really hit the brief as well as being a masterclass in high-key portrait photography. You should be very proud of this photograph Louise and we are delighted to award you with £50 Amazon vouchers.
